Reviewed: Bell Gage Helmet

One of the “perks” of owning a bike shop is the occasional gift from a visiting product representative. Usually it’s a stinkin’ t-shirt, and it’s usually too small. But Chris Newlin, our awesome Giro/Bell/Fizik/Continental rep comped me a Bell Gage helmet a couple months back. I had been wearing a Lazer Helium lid for a couple months prior to that. And while a very good looking helmet, it tended to give me a headache after an hour or so. Not the case with the Bell. It seems to fit my overly large Midwestern head, while also being quite a bit lighter than the Lazer. Not quite as visually appealing, but if you know me, then it’s obvious that looking good isn’t a big priority. I would highly recommend this helmet, especially to big melon heads like myself.
